A smirk graced his lips. He normally only reserved his jackal form for when he was on duty, but this seemed like a special occasion. The rotten kid seemed like he could use a little incentive to show respect.
Like the flip of a switch, Anubis’ mind instantly began making the necessary changes:

A few feet taller, it had only taken a fraction of a second for his jackal form to take over. The body of a man, and the head of a savage dog. Not that Anubis was savage–anything but. He was rather calm, but the boy didn’t know.
It was only about ten seconds; enough to make eye contact, enough to scare the boy's ba right out of him. And as quickly as he transformed, he was back to normal. The whole ordeal had taken less then half a minute.
